Facial pimples occur when tiny holes on the skin, called hair follicles, become blocked. The sebaceous glands are small glands found near the surface of your skin. These glands attach to hair follicles, which are small holes in your skin from which each strand of hair protrudes.
The sebaceous glands lubricate hair and skin to prevent it from drying out. They do this by producing an oily substance called sebum. If the glands begin to produce too much sebum, a boil develops. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells, and both substances form a plug in the follicle.

If the blocked follicle is close to the surface of the skin, it will bulge outwards, forming a whitehead. Alternatively, the blocked follicle can open up to the skin, forming a blackhead.
Normal harmless bacteria that live on the skin can infect and infect blocked follicles, causing papules, pustules, nodules, or cysts.
Adolescence pimples are thought to be caused by an increase in levels of a hormone called testosterone that develops during puberty. One study found that if both of your parents have pimples, you are more likely to develop more severe pimples at an early age. It was also found that if one or both of your parents had adult pimples, you were also more likely to develop adult pimples.
